The Missouri has dropped around 4 feet since Sunday, but the Mississippi is still causing problems in eastern St. Charles County. The Mississippi at Alton was at 33.4 feet as of 11 AM today (Wednesday). That’s only down about a foot since the crest on Monday.
Overall, the Consolidated North County Levee is still a concern because the water is up, but the situation is stable. Crews are doing maintenance checks along the levee and addressing problem spots when identified.
The flood berm on Highway 94 between Dwiggins Road. and the Ameren Portage plant was completed at 6:30 AM today (Wednesday). This was a protective measure.
For the area East of Highwy 67 reports are that 10-12 homes have flooding in the basement or on the first floor. The City of West Alton plans to do a survey by boat today to get an actual count of homes that have flooded.
