Francis Howell, who has been dominating every team in their path since Districts started, would be in for a fight in this game. The Vikings put their ace senior Calvin Munson on the mound to face Fort Zumwalt’s ace, senior Ryan Franklin.

Howell opened up the game with a bang. Senior Calvin Munson knocked in Eli Dilday, who doubled right before him, to take a quick 1-0 lead. Both big hits were with two outs in the inning.

The Vikings scored again in the top of the 3rd with the help of Dilday once again. With his second double of the day, he picked up an RBI and extended Howell’s lead to 2-0. Fort Zumwalt West wouldn’t be scared away.

The Jaguars got a boost from junior Jordan White in the bottom of the 7th inning. He took Munson yard and cut the Vikings lead down to 2-1. With two outs in the inning and a runner on second, the Jaguars had one final chance to tie the game. Munson shut their dreams down with his eight strikeout of the game, earning him the complete game victory.
