Update on Westplex Tornado

The official total is now over 100 homes with major or heavy damage from Friday night’s EF3 tornado that swept through the Westplex.  There are at least an additional 100 homes with minor to moderate damage with the assessments still in progress.

 

The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department and the MO State Highway Patrol are continuing to provide security for the affected areas.

The Family Arena was also damaged in the storm.  Family Arena Damage crop 1000w 20130602 The Francis Howell School District High School graduations that were scheduled for Saturday afternoon were rescheduled to Sunday at Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
Damage cost estimates and assessments are not available at this time and will take be released next week.

On Saturday  St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann and Governor Jay Nixon toured the damaged areas and met with residents of some of the hardest hit homes. Governor Nixon said the state will stand with local leaders, officials and residents to work towards a full recovery.

Insurance adjusters from several companies have moved into the Westplex.  Am Fam Cat team 1000w crop 20130602The American Family Insurance Company’s Catastrophe Team set up temporary headquarters in the Dierbergs and Target parking lot at 94 and Mid Rivers Mall Drive.
