The official total is now over 100 homes with major or heavy damage from Friday night’s EF3 tornado that swept through the Westplex. There are at least an additional 100 homes with minor to moderate damage with the assessments still in progress.
The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department and the MO State Highway Patrol are continuing to provide security for the affected areas.
On Saturday St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann and Governor Jay Nixon toured the damaged areas and met with residents of some of the hardest hit homes. Governor Nixon said the state will stand with local leaders, officials and residents to work towards a full recovery.
Insurance adjusters from several companies have moved into the Westplex. The American Family Insurance Company’s Catastrophe Team set up temporary headquarters in the Dierbergs and Target parking lot at 94 and Mid Rivers Mall Drive.
